Culinary Adventure to Haute Savoie France July 6-14, 2018

Day 1 (Friday) July 6

Arrive in Geneva, Switzerland.

Van transport to lodging Hotel Ibis, Thonon-les-Bains, France (1h15).

 Rest, relax, and recuperate or visit downtown, spring, spa, etc.

Welcome meeting

Aperitif chez Christine and Laurent

Street fair, dinner on your own

Day 2 (Saturday) July 7

Breakfast at Hotel Ibis

Drive to Lavaux wine region in Switzerland (1.25 hours).

Wine tastings Domaine de Daley.

1pm local Vaudois specialties Brunch chez Pierre-Louis, Grandvaux, Switzerland

Hike through the terraced vineyards (1.5 hours)

Wine tastings.

Dinner- Hosted dinner chez Haug family. Publier, France

Return to Hotel Ibis

Day 3 (Sunday) July 8

Breakfast at Hotel Ibis (check out of hotel)

Grasse mâtiné (late start)

Visit to Evian-les Bains, Famous Evian spring.

Mont Forchat hike (about 2-3 hours), picnic lunch.

Check into lodging “Au pré de la Basse.”  Orcier, France.

Free time to relax

 Aperitif with Jacques and Catherine

Dinner Table d’hotes “Au pré de la Basse.”

Day 4 (Monday) July 9

Breakfast at “Au pré de la Basse.”

Boucherie/Charcuterie Trombert (Thonon-les-Bains) –Hervé Trombert will lead general tour and explanation, demonstration, and tasting.  10:00.

Lunch on your own, perhaps at the old port of Thonon

Cooking class focused on single origin chocolate with Jerome Chaumontet of Chautmontet & Co.  15h30. Thonon, France

Dinner Chez Caroline Pascal

Return to lodging in Orcier “Au pre de la Basse.”

 Day 5 (Tuesday) July 10

Breakfast at “Au pré de la Basse.”

Transport by Van to Feternes (30 min)

La Tour Fromagerie-Cheese making with Jean-Paul, tour, tasting.   Feternes, France.  Early start: 9:30am

Lunch Picnic Bernex

Hike in the mountains or relax at a cafe

Chacuterie Simon.  Simon will lead tour of curing chambers with aged hams and sausages.  Visit his pigs.  Tasting. Feternes, France. 15h30

Return to “Au pré de la Basse”

Dinner-Cheese Fondue with cheese from La Tour Fromagerie at “Au pré de la Basse.”

Day 6 (Wednesday) July 11

Breakfast at Au pré de la Basse.

 Comptoir des Saveurs (Thonon-Les-Bains).  Tour of pastry production kitchen, French Macacron demonstration with Sebastian, tasting.  Cafe.  2 hours. 10:30.

Lunch Chez Dret (working person’s 4 course lunch).

Visit to the beautiful medieval town of Yvoire or *Optional visit to “La Mere Gaud”-Duck foie gras producer. Baillaison, France.

Free afternoon to discover Yvoire.  Last entry to Garden of the 5 senses at 17h30.

Van Transport to Chapelle-d’Abondance (50min)

Check into lodging “Les Cornettes.”

Dinner at mountain restaurant “Les Cornettes.”

Day 7 (Thursday) July 12

Breakfast at lodging “Les Cornettes”

Van transport to Thonon-les-bains (45min)

Market tour and shopping with Chef Thomas Aragones (Thonon-les-Bains)

Cooking class with Thomas Aragones

4 course lunch from cooking class.

Swimming, relaxing, free afternoon.

Van transport to “Alpage de Bises” (45 minutes)

Hike in the high mountain pastures

Dinner on your own at high mountain restaurant Les Cabrettes with Hervé Trombert (late night)

Return to lodging in La Chapelle d’Abondance

Day 8 (Friday) July 13

Breakfast at lodging “Les Cornettes.”

Grasse Matiné (slow start)

Check out-11:00.

Free afternoon (possible day hikes at “Lac des Plagnes,” cafes, shopping, etc)

Lunch on your own.

Tour of rural French Supermarket (“Super-U” in Vinzier) and discussion.

Au Fournil du Chablais Boulangerie-tour of bakery, demonstration, tasting 15:30

Van Transport to Lucinges (40 min)

Check into “Le Bonheur est dans le Pré” Lucinges, France

 Final Dinner “Le Bonheur est dans le Pré.”

Day 9 (Saturday) July 14

Breakfast at lodging “Le Bonheur est dans le Pré.”
